Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple – History, Timings & Festivals Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple is one of the most revered Shakthi temples in Tamil Nadu, located near in Mandaikadu village on the sea shore in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu, near Nagercoil. The temple is uniquely known for worshipping the Goddess in the form of a sacred anthill, symbolizing the powerful presence of Mother Bhagavathi. Temple History & Spiritual Significance The main deity of Mandaikadu Temple is worshipped as a 15-foot tall anthill , which currently stands at around 12 feet in height and is believed to be continuously growing. The anthill is said to have five heads , and devotees believe it represents the living form of Mother Goddess Shakthi. According to popular belief, the murti of Bhagavathi Amman stands on the exact spot where Adi Shankaracharya performed pooja to a sacred Sri Chakra .
